Enyimba sealed their place in the quarter finals of the CAF Confederation Cup on Wednesday with a dramatic 1-0 win over Cara Brazzaville in the match day 6 of Group C.
A strike from young forward Wasiu Alalade in the third minute of injury time gave the People’s Elephants the edge at the newly refurbished Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.
It was a deserved victory for the Nigerian representatives who wasted several great scoring chances.
Alalade poked home past goalkeeper Chansel Massa after Mfon Udoh’s curled free kick came off the post.
The final whistle sounded almost immediately and the fans darted on to the pitch and celebrated.
In the other group match, Williamsville drew 0-0 with Djoliba.
With the results recorded in the group today, Enyimba ended up as group winners with 12 points, followed by Cara Brazzaville who picked nine points from six games.
