It was an eventful weekend for Nigerians abroad with most of them churning out fantastic shows for their respective clubs.
After scintillating and brilliant exchanges, Futbalgalore.com brings you the team of the week.
The Team of the Week comes with a 4:3:3 system with Hapoel Iksal star Dele Aiyenugba featuring behind the sticks.
Dele Aiyenugba [Hapoel Iksal]
Aiyenugba’s agility and steadfastness in post ensured Hapoel Iksal recorded a win over Hapoel Afula.
Moses Simon [Levante]
The Nigerian Rinaldo’s great show for Levante in the loss to Real Madrid makes him the perfect choice for the right back position.
Ola Aina [Torino]
Aina’s surging runs to support the Torino attack and aggression in defense for the Granata against Atalanta earned him a role in the Team of the Week.
Chidozie Awaziem [Rizespor]
Awaziem was outstanding last weekend in the Turkish Super Lig. His defensive exploits ensure the hosts did not concede a goal at home to Yeni Malatyaspor.
Semi Ajayi [Rotherham United]
The Arsenal youth product rose to the occasion and was effective in Rotherham United’s 1-1 draw at Reading. When his team needed a lift, he netted the leveller.
Azubuike Okechukwu [Rizespor]
Azubuike displayed creativity and defensive qualities in the heart of midfield for Rizespor as they recorded a 3-0 victory against Yeni Malatyaspor. He dominated the midfield and guided the homers to victory with an assist.
John Ogu [Hapoel Beer Sheva]
Many people may have not realised that the Hapoel Beer Sheva’s 2-1 win over Hapoel Hadera was masterminded by John Ogu. His quick runs and great passing ability made him the toast of the fans.
Alex Iwobi [Arsenal]
The talented Iwobi brightened the visiting side especially in the first half with his intelligent moves. He made sure the backbone of Southampton was completely broken.
Victor Osimhen [Sporting Charleroi]
Despite the loss of Sporting Charleroi to St.Truiden, Victor Osimhen was full of action and scored his team’s only goal in the 3-1 defeat. The great performance of the former Golden Eaglets goal king will surely send opposing team thinking.
Ebere Onuachu [Midtjylland]
Ebere dully delivered the goods for Midtjylland with a brace for the club who edged AGF 2-1. He has netted 14 goala for the club in the 2018/19 Danish Superligaen season. An invitation to the Super Eagles squad shouldn’t be out of place for the forward.
Taiwo Awoniyi [Royal Excel Mouscron]
The on-loan forward was instrumental in ensuring that Royal Excel Mouscron picked all the maximum points at the expense of Lokeren. His solitary strike earned Mouscron the priceless three points.
