With the Super Eagles expected to face Ukraine in an international friendly in September 2019, Futbalgalore.com takes a look at the players who will look for call ups.
A couple of Nigerian players are back in stride, and will be thought of by Gernot Rohr.
Sebastian Osigwe: The Kriens keeper should be called up after strings of impressing performances. He proves to be one of the Swiss Challenge League’s best keepers game after game, and he’s kept Kriens in the game on several occasions. Osigwe is only 25, a young age for a keeper, and he’s more than capable to be the Eagles’ number one. Francis Uzoho is the only keeper in Osigwe’s way for the number one jersey, as Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa might give way for fresh blood.
Semi Ajayi: The West Brom new signing earned a starting berth for his when they played 1-1 draw with Millwall. He is still fairly young (25). At Rotherham United, he receiving lots of playing time, and is in fairly good form, Rohr may be making a phone call to the Midlands in the near future.
Ramon Azeez: The midfield enforcer is back in full gear, looking as crisp as he is known for. Rohr should be calling Azeez back up to return to the squad. Wilfred Ndidi and Oghenekaro Etebo have got the job done in the midfield position, It’s crucial that the Eagles get Azeez back into the flow of things, to help keep a solid defensive structure against competitive teams.
In conclusion, there are many players competing for each position. Players must earn their positions, and this will make the squad stronger. Only time will tell the future roles for each player in the squad.
