Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel was back to action for Stoke City on Tuesday night, reports.

The Chelsea legend who was recently sidelined due to injury played a substitute role for the Potters in their 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest at Bet365 Stadium.

A Jordan Thompson goal direct from a free-kick had given Michael O’Neill’s the side the lead at the bet365 Stadium.

However, the visitors managed to level the scores in the second half through an unfortunate own goal from James Chester.

With the scoreline level at 1-1, John Obi Mikel was called upon to replace Jordan Thompson in the 68th minute.

Forest were almost gifted the winning goal with five minutes remaining as the experienced Jon Obi Mikel inadvertently played a defence-splitting through pass for Cafu, who had read the situation well. Cafu controlled and shot goalwards from 15 yards out but Stoke keeper Joe Bursik was out quickly and got a crucial touch to divert the ball wide.

Nigerian eligible forward Sammy Ameobi was in action for Forest.
