After a short weekend where Nasarawa United were finally knocked off the top of Nigeria Professional Football League, Ademetan Abayomi picks his best XI.

Thomas Omokhudu [Dakkada FC]

The goalkeeper needed to be at his very best to stop FC Ifeanyi Ubah from scoring. Along with a massive hand from the posts he pulled off several critical saves. Athletic.

Ifeanyi Nweke [Rangers]

An outstanding performance from the right back. His tackling kept Rangers secure. He absolutely had the opposition in his pocket. Atomic.

Ifeanyi Anaemena [Rivers United]

Restricted Kwara United to a few chances with his crucial tackling. He grabbed the opener. With his accurate passing out of defence he was a rock and absolutely fluid when on the move. Metasomatic.

Wale Doyeni [Dakkada FC]

Played at the heart of defence and excelled in pinning back the hosts. He worked well at the back. Kinetic.

Faisal Sani [Katsina United]

The leftback provided an assist for Rasheed Ahmed. He continued probing the Adamawa United defence throughout, while consistently setting up his teammates down the left. Charismatic.

Tony Shimaga [Rangers]

The former FC Ifeanyi Ubah player was highly organised and controlled the game from the middle of the park. Antagonistic.

Nnamdi Mejuobi [Dakkada FC]

It was a Man of the Match display from Nnamdi Mejuobi. He was forever pushing forward, inspiring several counter attacks and on one in particular produced the winner. Catalytic.

Samuel Mathias [Lobi Stars]

Do they come much more consistent than the attacking midfielder? Not at the moment they don’t. He set up a goal and netted a fine free kick. Absolutistic.

Rasheed Ahmed [Katsina United]

Showed his determination throughout and set up several strong counter-attacks down. Opened up the scoring before sealing victory as Katsina United won 2-0. Ballistic.

Israel Abia [Rangers]

Always a thorn in Jigawa Golden Stars’ side, he scored on a lightning counter after Shedrack Asiegbu was involved. Fantastic.

Ndifreke Effiong [Akwa United]

The striker scored twice in a tightly-fought game. He twice hit the woodwork as Akwa United beat Abia Warriors 2-1. Energetic.
