Nyima Nwagua was delighted after scoring his first goal of the season for Kano Pillars in their 1-1 draw with Nasarawa United in a Nigerian Professional Football League game on Sunday.

The striker was introduced in the second half by manager Emmanuel Soccoia at the Lafia City Stadium.

The Nigeria international delivered a great performance in the encounter, scoring with his first touch.

“The team did well without me in the opening two games. I haven’t played since the season started so I’m really excited with the team performances as well,” Nyima Nwagua told Futbagalore.com.ng.

“I touched the ball for the first goal. The defender also touched it but I got the last touch. The principal role of a striker is to score goals. Even if you don’t score you can still help the team.

“My coaches were happy with the goal and I’ve been waiting for this moment. I’m very delighted with my performance. Honestly, today proved to be a special day..

“I’ve been really patient and on Sunday, that paid off. “I believe that with dedication and adhering to instructions, I can do more. I want to score many goals before the season ends and help the club to achieve success.”

“There are lots of big games ahead which we need to win to be able to challenge for the ultimate,” he added.

Nyima Nwagua will hope to maintain the fine performance when Kano Pillars take on Plateau United in the day 4 of the Nigeria Professional Football League at midweek.
