Rivers United head coach Stanley Eguma believes fatigue was to blame for their 1-0 loss to Wikki Tourists in their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week four match at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The Pride of Rivers started the season with three straight wins over Rangers, Abia Warriors and Kwara United.
But against Wikki Tourists they were shorn of energy, dynamism and quality.
“After the game we played on Sunday (against Kwara United), we had a terrible moment travelling to Bauchi. We had a hectic period because fatigue was very very instrumental to our lose today (Wednesday),” Stanley Eguma told Newsmen after the game.
“Maybe because of the breakdown we had on the road on our way coming contributed to the loss. But I think that the players tried their best. We have lost today (Wednesday) but we still have other games to play. We are going to correct our mistakes and work on the fatigue issue.”
