The recent impressive performance of Super Eagles duo of Paul Onuachu and Sadiq Umar in Europe has caught the attention of the Sports ministry.
Special adviser on media to the honorable minister of youth and sports, Kola Daniel said Onuachu who scored his 20th goal of the season to give his Belgium side Genk a deserved one nil lead against Gent in the Jupilar league in Belgium, has done so well for himself this season
The respected sports journalist said he is impressed with Onuachu’s performance and knows that every one in the ministry is excitedly looking forward to seeing him play for the Super Eagles in upcoming international fixtures.
He also made mention of Almeria of Spain striker Sadiq Umar whose sterling form this season has seen him score 17 goals for the modest second division club in the Segunda league.
The renowned NPFL match commissioner and accredited match delegate is also a football agent and a keen promoter of the league.
He took time to analyze both players during his 9pm evening chat on the very popular Nigeria Sports mouthpiece, NSM.
He summed it up by saying that with what Onuachu has done this season, there is no reason why he shouldn’t be invited for the March 2021 Nations Cup qualifier with Benin Republic.
According to him, 20 goals in the first half of the season is no fluke.
“Definately something is wrong somewhere. 20 league goals is no longer a fluke”
Kola says the ministry has been following both players with keen interest and will be glad to recommend, not force them, on the Super Eagles coaching crew.
