Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs have shown a trend in their managerial appointments in recent times, with several members of Nigeria football’s top division currently coached by indigenes.
Fans become quickly excited at the prospect of the son of the soil returning to guide the club forward.
Here are four NPFL coach who are managing their state teams……
Bashir Sadaoki – Katsina United
Katsina native Sadaoki’s love affair continues, with the coach having spent many years with the club, first as Spotlight and then Katsina United.
The coach helped the club gain promotion to the top flight in 2015 and was made assistant to Abdullahi Biffo, Bala Nikyu and Henry Makinwa.

Bashir Sadaoki is currently the head coach of the Changi Boys, following the departure of Makinwa.
Abdullahi Biffo – Kwara United
A boyhood Harmony Boys fan, Kwara born Biffo assisted Justin Tenger and Kadiri Ikhana in the past.
After cutting his teeth in management with the likes of SEC, Giwa FC, Kogi United, Abia Warriors and Katsina United, Biffo was handed his opportunity at Kwara United in 2019.

His innovative tactics, including overlapping centre-backs, are thriving at the highest level.
Biffo has received admiring glances, but would likely prove difficult to prise away from the club.
Uche Okagbue – FC Ifeanyi Ubah
Uche Okagbue is from Anambra State. He had a good time at Gabros International now Nnewi United and Road Safety Football Club.

In his first two seasons, Okagbue proved to be a hugely popular appointment in testing circumstances. His integration of the club’s academy graduates also won him plaudits. The current season hasn’t been smooth sailing for Okagbue.
Stanley Eguma – Rivers United
The history of Rivers United won’t be complete without veteran coach, Stanley Eguma. He was the manager of Dolphins Football Club before the team was merged with Sharks to form Rivers United.

With over 15 years experience in the NPFL managing, coach Eguma has really showed that he is a true son of Rivers State with his love and passion for Rivers United.
Currently, his team are on top of the top tier log with 12 points.
