Heartland are the most error-prone team in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), making more mistakes than any other side so far this season. They have been breached 10 times.
Adamawa United have conceded nine goals and are in the mocky water.
Abia Warriors, Katsina United and Warri Wolves are next on the list of teams most guilty of gifting their opposition chances, the trio have done so eight times.
It shows an obvious area of improvement that Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side need to work on if they are to meet expectations this season.
Heartland have improved in recent weeks, but making so many mistakes against top teams is likely to prove costly and breaking into the top-three whilst doing so will be very difficult.
Ilechukwu’s team do have the attacking talent to compensate for their defensive vulnerabilities, but sloppiness is something which cannot be afforded.
The defence is particularly young this season and their inexperience is clearly being exploited at the moment.
At the opposite end of the list, Rivers United, Rangers and Plateau United have made less errors, with 2, 3, and 3 goals conceded respectively.
It does highlight that they are well organised and they will be aiming to keep errors out of their game as the season progresses.
