As Enyimba zoomed to the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table, Ademetan Abayomi selects his best XI from Week 8’s top action at midweek.
John Noble [Enyimba]
The Enyimba ‘keeper had to be on his toes from the start, first finger tipping a Silas Nwankwo’s thunderbolt to safety then suffocating two Chinedu Ohanachom efforts. However, it was in the last moment that he kept his very best for when saving two close range headers from Silas Nwankwo and David Ehiaghe. Outstanding.
Olisa Ndah [Akwa United]
Tackles, interceptions, blocked shots and clearances: the big defender was at his comfortable best limiting Adamawa United through the middle. Concrete.
Sani Faisal [Katsina United]
Faisal had an ultra solid game and was arguably the game’s best defender. Kept Rivers quiet, limiting them and scored a great goal. Intimidating.
Ndasi Kadiang [Kano Pillars]
Thanks to the likes of Ndasi, Kano Pillars maintained their 100 per cent home start to the season. Along with Emmanuel Anyanwu he formed a wall in front of his ‘keeper and helped keep the likes of Samuel Stone quiet. Daunting.
Dare Olatunji [Enyimba]
Always there to block any Nasarawa United attack and while sitting in front of his defence the midfielder stood out with his technical forte and was one of the visitors’ main men leaving defenders as supple as a step-ladder. Defining.
Fatai Abdullahi [Abia Warriors]
Ran the midfield at the heart of his side’s performance and was always looking to set up attacks. The former Ikorodu United ace netted a stunning free kick for Warriors. Superb.
Cyril Olisema [Enyimba]
Continually causing problems for Nasarawa United’s defence and helped control the midfield throughout the game. Fatal as the fang of the most venomous snake, it was from his pass that Sadiq Abdulrazaq ended up bringing down Anayo Iwuala for the penalty. The former Akwa United man stepped up to net with precision. Compelling.
Anayo Iwuala [Enyimba]
The little dynamo burned off the hosts, given the slightest chance, while earning his side the spot kick that helped Enyimba to take the points from Nasarawa United. His man of the match display was electrifying. Exhilarating.
Christian Nnaji [Rangers]
Menaced Dakkada and won the points against them with a tidy brace. Nuisance.
Mfon Udoh [Enyimba]
Mfon Udoh was all over the Adamawa United back line and netted a brilliant winner for the Promise Keepers in the slim win over Adamawa United. Thunderous.
Bello Lukman [Abia Warriors]
Brace hero Bello Lukman was up for it, hurting the Sunshine Stars defence like the cut of a knife of frozen ice from a poisoned pool. Fabulous.
