The Nigeria Professional Football League saw further movement at the top and bottom of the table throughout January.
We’ve taken a look at the best performers in several key areas of the stats throughout last month.
Sunshine Stars striker Sadeeq Yusuf scored more goals than any other player, which helped his side keep the pressure up at the top of the Premier League. He also got February off to a good start with a goal against Abia Warriors yesterday.
Sunshine Stars defender Seun Olulayo was the best player in terms of assists. He’s superb in dead ball situations and also attacks well down the left hand side, making it difficult for teams at both ends of the pitch. He racked up three assists and was involved in five goals.
In terms of clean sheets, no goalkeeper was close to Chinedu Anozie with the Plateau United shot stopper picking up five closely followed by Dele Aiyenugba who kept four clean sheets.
Isah Ndala has taken to life at Plateau United like a duck to water. He’s been superb in terms of making tackles and breaking up the play effectively, which makes it tough for any side playing against Plateau United to maintain pressure in games.
Dakkada FC skipper Aniekan Ekpe scored more goals than any midfielder in the January league games, netting four in the process.
