Reigning African champions Nigeria got their 2021 Turkish Women’s Cup campaign off to a winning start with a 1-0 victory over CSKA Moscow on Thursday morning, reports.

The Super Falcons took the lead on 18 minutes thanks to Chinwendu Ihezuo effort from Fransisca Ordega’s cross.

CSKA Moscow spent the remainder of the game chasing shadows as Nigeria held on to record victory at Emr Sports Complex.

Further clashes with the women’s National Team of Uzbekistan on Saturday (5pm) and with Nzalang National of Equatorial Guinea (2008 and 2012 African champions) on Tuesday next week (9am) will follow.

The tournament is scheduled to take place between 15 to 25 February in Antalya and include two groups of four teams each.
