Striker Samuel Stone has lauded his Jigawa Golden Stars teammates following their 1-0 win over Nasarawa United in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Sunday, reports.

Faisal Ahmed’s lone strike was enough for the Giant Killers to pocket all three points at Ahmadu Bello Stadium.

Speaking after the game to, Samuel Stone said, “First of all, I congratulate our team for the victory.”

“Everyone knew what to do. Everyone struggled, everyone worked. We concentrated and picked 3 points.

“They made it really tough for us. We knew it was going to be a hard game because they don’t concede many goals usually.

“We just had to grind out, keep on fighting, and the result was deserved in the end. We showed how devastating we could be on the counter, which is obviously what we’re known for at the end of the day.

“It just goes to show how much everyone wants to run for the team and always got that in the back of their minds, and [it was] clinical finishing at the top end of the pitch.

“I was very happy at that moment and we did the best thing which is winning,” he added.

Jigawa Golden Stars will play Plateau United in their next NPFL game on Wednesday.
