Super Eagles XI If AFCON Wasn’t Shifted, 4 Premier League Stars Feature

African Cup of Nations should have taken place in 2021 but Covid-19 forced the prestigious tournament to postponed until next year.

Fans of the Super Eagles must have been expecting the team to showcase their talents in Cameroon. Not to worry, 2022 is almost here.

With the likes of Ademola Lookman, Tosin Adarabioyo, Ovie Ejaria, Ike Ugbo and Terim Moffi likely to be available for selection, we look at how the Super Eagles could line up in Cameroon 2022.

Coach Gernot Rohr will be very happy to see the Francis Uzoho back to action after he struggled with injuries since 2019.

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi and Maduka Okoye should battle for the number one spot.

There are also other options in Adeleye Adebayo and Sebastian Osigwe.

Okoye has really been consistent for Dutch Eredivisie side Sparta Rotterdam. He should take the gloves if the good form continues.

Rohr is blessed with options at full back with Kingsley Ehizibue, Shehu Abdullahi, Ola Aina, Jamilu Collins, Zaidu Sanusi and Tyrone Ebuehi are available. There are possibilities of having Werder Bremen’s Felix Agu in future.

On a good day, Ola Aina and Zaidu Sanusi should take the full back slots.

The middle of the park is another competitive department for Rohr.

Nath Boys product Wilfred Ndidi is an automatic option, with Joe Aribo and Everton’s Alex Iwobi joining him.

Genk striker Paul Onuachu might be firing the goals but Victor Osimhen still remains the Super Eagles number one striker.

At the flanks, there should be roles for Samuel Chukwueze and Ademola Lookman from the look of things. The Nigeria Football Federation are fast tracking the paperwork of Lookman to enable the Fulham star available for selection.

Meanwhile, West Bromwich Albion General Semi Ajayi and reliable William Troost-Ekong should occupy the heart of defence.
