One country that houses a large number of players eligible to feature for Nigeria is England.

While Nigeria has been successful to lure some of the youngsters to switch allegiance to wear the country’s Green and White colours, they have missed on some top prime targets who followed through with their ambitions to star for the Three Lions.

The likes of Victor Moses, Shola Ameobi and even Ola Aina all played for the various England Youth teams before they went on to play for the Super Eagles.

However the likes of Bukayo Saka, Tammy Abraham could not be convinced to play for Nigeria despite huge pressure from the country’s officials.

Ahead of the International week ahead, I have compiled the names of seven players that are eligible to play for Nigeria based on their parentage but have also been offered a chance across the Youth English teams.

Topping the list as previously reported, is the duo of Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze and PSV Eindhoven winger Nonso Madueke who are in Aidy Boothroyd’s squad list for the 2021 European U21 Championship group stages.

In the U18 and U19 list that were announced on Friday, five Nigeria-eligible players made it into the roster.

Recent Manchester United debutant Shola Shoretire was handed a maiden call-up to England U18s by Head coach Kevin Betsy.

Some say this is the beginning of the journey to featuring for the Three Lions for United prodigy.

Joining Shoretire on the U18s roster are Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, Manchester City winger Samuel Edozie and Arsenal fullback Daniel Oyegoke.

For the U19 age group, Arsenal midfielder Miguel Azeez is surprisingly the only Nigeria-eligible player who made it into Ian Foster’s 21-man squad for a training camp in St. George’s Park.
