The forward made a winning contribution to the national team set-up as he helped the Super Eagles to a 1-0 win away to Benin Republic in an African Cup of Nations qualifier.
Speaking on Tuesday, Iheanacho revealed the family like atmosphere in the Super Eagles camp.
“It is always a great honour to represent my country,” Kelechi Iheanacho enthused.
“I am happy to be playing for the Super Eagles. It’s always a great joy
The former Manchester City forward helped the Super Eagles qualify for AFCON and stated that the togetherness in the team is good.
“We are a happy family. It is good to be part of the team that qualified for the AFCON.”
“The togetherness is very good. Qualifying for the AFCON is what Nigerians were looking forward to.
“It was a tough game against Benin Republic and at the last minute we grabbed the winner. We are now looking forward to the AFCON.
Iheanacho became the fifth Nigerian to net a hat trick in the Premier League and he cherished the great moment against Sheffield United.
“I have really been working hard. It’s good to be in form, play and help the team.
“The form is really a good feeling for me and I hope to continue helping Leicester City in the Premier League.”
The 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup winner praised the quality of Anayo Iwuala.
“I have watched him in training. Someone showed me a picture of Anayo and myself on social media. I then checked and realised it was him (Anayo). That’s how time flies!
“He (Anayo) is a talented and quality player. He is confident, calm and makes the direct decision. I think he is someone that will be in the Super Eagles for a long time if he keeps working hard,” Iheanacho added.
