Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala will miss two months of action after a successful surgery.
The Nigerian striker underwent foot surgery and – is expected – to miss about eight weeks of action, according to ScoreNigeria.
Oshoala helped Barcelona Femini qualify for the semifinal of the UEFA Women Champions League. They defeated Manchester City 4-2 on aggregate.
The Barcelona striker scored the first goal in the 3-0 win when both sides first met in the quarterfinal. She scored again in the return leg, which Manchester City won by 2-1 in England.
She missed the game against Levante last weekend. Barcelona won the game – by 7-1.
She suffered the injury while playing for Nigeria at the Turkish Women’s Cup, which Nigeria won.
With the latest setback, Oshoala will miss both legs of Barcelona’s clash with Lyon – in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and most of the league season.
She has scored fifteen goals in twenty appearances before the surgery.
Barcelona are top of the table with 12 points clear of their closest rivals Levante with nine matches – left to play.
