Ex-Barcelona winger Andrea Orlandi praised Samuel Chukwueze for his performance against Barcelona on Sunday. Barcelona defeated Villarreal by 2-1 with the Nigerian dazzler scoring the first goal.
Chukwueze put the Yellow Submarine in front after racing Jordi Alba from a pass from Pau Torres, rounding Ter Stegen, and calmly slotting the ball at the back of the net.
On La Liga TV after the game, Orlandi stated that the Barcelona defenders struggle to cope with him in his preferred position on the right.
“Samuel was a handful. It was difficult to cope with him. It was right Koeman said they were taking risk man-to-man at the back – there is a moment Alba had where he slips – it’s a 1v1 situation.
“Going back to Samuel, he’s an exciting player, but his preferred side is the right one – today this is where he played.
The former Barcelona striker believed Chukwueze was the most dangerous Villarreal player in the first half. He also disclosed that the Nigerian was involved in everything positive from Villarreal.
“In the first half, Samuel was the most dangerous player in the second one – there was a ball from him as well into the path of Gerard Moreno, and Villarreal had a good chance – so he was involved in everything that Villarreal did positive going forward.
“He’s such an exciting player, and he is still young. There is still room for improvement, tactically for me – he has to improve.”
Chukwueze has featured in 27 games, scored four goals, and created three assists. He has scored three goals in his last three games.
