Young Nigerian goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri is close to extending his contract with Arsenal, according to a report from Skysports. According to the report, the Nigerian goalkeeper is close to signing his first professional contract with the Gunners.
Born in Greenwich, Ovie is in the final two months of his scholarship at the club. However, the club are hoping to keep him with a new contract.
The Nigerian goalkeeper started the season as a backup to Hubert Graczyk but proved himself with some stellar performances as the season progresses.
In nine appearances for the U18s, Ovie kept two clean sheets and conceded twelve goals. The young keeper is the club’s preferred goalkeeper for the FA Youth Cup.
The young goalkeeper joined Arsenal aged five – and has spent thirteen years at the club. He was close to representing Nigeria at the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil.
He failed to join the camp because of a medial meniscus injury.
