Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has been compared to N’golo Kante after his performance in Leicester City’s 2-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The former Liverpool manager reacted to the comparison after – his side secured – the three maximum points against a much-changed Manchester United side on Tuesday.
Despite the comparison, Brendan Rodgers believes both players are different even though they play similar positions.
“No, I think he’s Wilfred Ndidi – I think Kante has got special skills, and he’s a defensive midfield player of course – like Ndidi but, they’re two different players.
Rodgers, however, believes the Nigerian midfielder is a top-class player but disclosed that he has some areas of his game he needs to improve on.
Also, he praised the combination of the former Genk midfielder and Youri Tielemans in the center circle.
“Wilfred in his own right – is a top-class player who can improve in some areas of his game, but, thankfully, he’s a player that wants to develop.
“But yes, that combination of Wilfred winning the ball, Youri is the passer, is a really strong combination.”
Wilfred Ndidi has been vital to Leicester City’s performance this season – contributing to a goal and three assists in twenty-four league games.
