Steven Gerrard reacts to Joe Aribo's performance as a left-back

Rangers coach Steven Gerrard has reacted to the performance of Joe Aribo as a left-back in the Light Blues’ 3-0 victory over Livingston on Wednesday.

Already won the title, the victory puts the Light Blues closer to the 100 points landmark and going the season unbeaten. Rangers have accumulated 99 points from 37 games (W 31 D 6).

Speaking to Rangers TV, the former Liverpool captain described the Nigerian midfielder as a top player due to his performance as a left-back.

According to Gerrard, Aribo is ready to play in any position he asks him to play.

“What can I say about Joe Aribo?

“I’ll tell you what I’ll say about him: good players can play football, top players can play anywhere on the football pitch, and a manager can ask a player to do a role, and good players can do some, and good players can’t do some, but Joe Aribo is a top player.

“Whatever I ask him to do, he goes out and gives it his best shot.

“He’s my man of the match tonight just because, if you think about it, he’s a number 10, and he’s just been so comfortable at left-back, cruised it and breezed it.

“That left-back performance is as good as we’ve seen in my three years that I have been here, so well done to him for parking his ego and doing a fantastic job for his teammates.”

The Nigerian midfielder has been deployed in several positions (Central and midfielder, Right and Left midfielder) this season by Steven Gerrard.

In thirty games, the Nigerian midfielder scored seven goals and provided four assists.
