Nigeria forward Junior Ajayi made an injury return for reigning Egyptian champions Al Ahly in their 2-0 win over Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League Quarter-Final on Saturday night.
Similar to last year, the Reds managed to secure a 2-0 victory in Cairo, thanks to goals from Taher Mohamed Taher and Salah Mohsen.
Ajayi, 25, was a second half substitute in the first leg clash and was determined with more energy to spare.
The influential winger has been on the sidelines for a little over five weeks, missing clashes with Zamalek, Smouha, Enppi SC, Al Masry, Al Gouna, Al Mahala, El Ittihad and Zamalek.
His muscle injury made Al Ahly struggle fot him. Ajayi’s return will delight coach Pitso Mosimane.
The 36 Lion product has now played 11 games for Al Ahly in the 2020/21 campaign.
