Genk close to signing the youngest Nigerian to play in La Liga

Belgium side Racing Genk are close to signing Mujaid Sadick, according to a report from La Opinion A Coruna. The young Nigerian defender made history as the youngest Nigerian player to debut in La Liga 2018.

According to the report, Deportivo La Coruna have agreed to a deal of 1.7 million euros plus bonuses, with the Nigerian descent defender set to move in the summer.

Sadick was missing in Deportivo’s matchday squad against Numancia in the Segunda because of his imminent departure from the club.

The young defender squashed Issac Success record as the youngest Nigerian player to feature in the La Liga aged 18 years and 59 days, when he appeared against Villarreal on 12 May 2018.

Born in Logrono, Sadick joined the Los Blanquiazules in 2016 following a move from Valvanera. The young defender is eligible to play for three countries, Ghana, Nigeria, and Spain.

In the Segunda B, the young Nigerian defender has featured in twenty-four matches and has started twenty-three of them this season.
