Stephen Odey closing in on permanent Genk exit?

KRC Genk striker Stephen Odey is reportedly closing in on a permanent move away from the club this summer.

With Genk chiefs thought to have been concerned about Odey’s stats, he was shipped out on loan to Amiens for the 2020-21 season, where he has impressed with six goals from 28 French Ligue 2 appearances.

Odey is due to return to Genk at the end of his loan spell in France, but he is thought to be one of several players on the chopping block as John van den Brom seeks to raise funds for a summer overhaul.

A permanent transfer to Amiens has been mooted, but according to, Sporting Charleroi are leading the race for the Nigerian international’s signature.

Stephen Odey’s existing deal at Luminus Arena expires in 2024, meaning that the Smurfs are expected to recoup a fee for him this summer if they sell him.

The former FC Zurich man has scored two goals in 13 appearances for Genk since joining them in 2019.
