Striker Samson Akinyoola was at the double for Caracas who pumelled Atletico Venezuela 4-0 at the Estadio Olímpico de la UCV (Caracas) on Thursday night, Futbalgalore.com.ng.
The 36 Lion graduate increased his tally to four from five matches in the 2020/21 Venezuelan Primera División campaign.
One minute after the half hour mark, Jorge Eliézer Echeverría Montilva drew the curtain raiser for Caracas.
Caracas had to wait until 77th minute thanks to a solo effort from Akinyoola. The striker picked up the ball, he skillfully beat the defender before lobbing the keeper.
Akinyoola continued to probe up-front, he scored again with a superb strike from Eliézer’s left wing cross.
Richard Celis completed the rout in the first minute of additional time.
With the result, Caracas are on top of the Group A table with 15 points from six games.
“I feel good scoring two goals in this game,” an excited Akinyoola said after the massacre.
When asked on the secret of his sweet form, the former Benin Republic U20 international said, “It’s the coaching crew and staff that have been helping me to improve in every game.”
The striker expressed confidence in Caracas’ ability ahead of the playoffs.
“We are ready for the Championship. We have improved in every match and tried our best.
Samson Akinyoola is eligible to play for Nigeria at international level.
