5 loanees who failed to sparkle

Here are the five Nigerians who flopped on loan this season.

5. Pius Junior

You’re probably familiar with Pius Junior at Paços de Ferreira but not so familiar with the time he recently had at Sint-Truiden.

After horrific moments without games at Royal Antwerp, Sint-Truiden were hopeful of reviving his career but got a player short of confidence. He made just four appearances for the Sint-Truiden (St.-Trond) based side.

4. Samson Tijani

You’d be forgiven for having no idea who Samson Tijani is, but he actually arrived to much fanfare when he signed on loan for Hartberg. A Red Bull Salzburg player, he hasn’t had much of impact on the club, even a hardened Hartberg fan would struggle to pick him out of a line up.

3. Tolu Arokodare

The young forward once showed so much promise when he burst onto the scene for Valmiera. However, 10 games into his loan spell at Koln he failed to impress. It is clear that Italian striker was no more than a flash in the pan.

2. Emem Eduok

Konyaspor needed an inspirational forward to help their push this season.

Eduok who joined on loan from Hajduk Split made just four appearances in the Turkish Super Lig. Poor by his usual standards.

1. Emmanuel Dennis

Koln’s long search for a striker went the way of Club Brugge owned Emmanuel Dennis in the winter transfer. This has proved to be just a fruitless journey for the ex Zorya forward.
