Usman Oladipo Akanbi, an expert in Agricultural and Farm Management has described community development as important in the sense that it provides the foundation a community builds on to improve the lives of its citizens. 

He made the call during the final of the maiden edition of his football championship tagged ” Dr Usman Oladipo Akanbi Youth Soccer Competition” which ended over the weekend at the football field of Akerebiata Wembley in Ilorin.

International Football Club Edges Kingshood Academy 2-1 in an enthralling final contest to lift the Prestigious Trophy.

Medals, Awards and cash prizes were given to the champions, runners-up, third place team and outstanding players and individuals at the competition.

Dilating on the essence of the competition, Usman Akanbi said football entails the values of life (teamwork, determination, courage, confidence, discipline and respect) which are essential in creating a lasting bond in the community.

The Former Fadama Boss, commended and appreciated contributors and well wishers at the occasion, while appealing to other well-meaning individuals to get involved in the task of fostering unity and as well give back to their respective communities.

He was joined by friends, families and well wishers  who demonstrated their support at the occasion.

In his remarks, Media aide to the Honourable Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulkadri commended Dr Akanbi for his philanthropists gesture towards to the community, describing him as an individual who is keenly interested in making positive changes in his environment.

Similarly, Permanent secretary, Ministry of Communication, Hajia Rabiat Mopelola Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq described Dr Usman as a carbon copy of his Father, Late Justice Mustapha Akanbi of Blessed memories who was an advocate of service to Almighty God and Humanity. 

Community Leaders, Heads of Government Organisations as well as as football Stakeholders including Hajia Segilola  Alaya, Hamidu Olowo, Bayour Issah and host of others all graced the occasion.
