The Euro Under-21 tournament came to a close on Sunday evening, with the German youth side claiming the trophy after defeating Portugal 1-0.

The only goal of the game came in the second half (49th minute) and it was scored by Manchester City forward – Lukas Nmecha and it was a well taken goal.

The forward received the ball inside the 18-yard box, controlled it past the on rushing Portugal goalkeeper and slotted into an empty net.

He finished the tournament as the highest goalscorer with four goals to his name, and was given the golden boot award for his efforts.

There were wild celebrations from the players when the final whistle went off.

The 22 year old striker (born 14 December 1998) is of Nigerian descent but has represented England and Germany at youth level. He was born in Hamburg (Germany) to a German mother and a Nigerian father, but was raised in England after moving there at an early age.

Lukas Nmecha is eligible to play for Nigeria, England and Germany at senior level.
