Nigeria midfielder Vincent Onovo reacts after receiving his maiden call-up to the Super Eagles camp by Gernot Rohr on Monday afternoon.
The energetic midfielder was invited by Gernot Rohr to replace William Troost-Ekong ahead of the second game against Cameroon on Tuesday.
Ekong got injured in Nigeria 1-0 loss to Cameroon on Friday in Austria with – former Enyimba center-back Valentine Ozornwafor taking his position.
Speaking to Allnigeriasoccer, Onovo revealed that he joined the camp last night after Gernot Rohr seeks permission from the President of Ujpest Roderick Duchâtelet.
“I arrived at the Super Eagles camp last night, the coach Gernot Rohr called the president of Ujpest and – he permitted me to join the team in Austria.
Reacting to the news of his maiden call-up, the 25-year-old midfielder disclosed that he is excited to be in the squad and hoped to give his best if allowed to play tomorrow.
“I feel great to be here with the national team. I hope to give my best if I am fielded and make sure we get – a win tomorrow against Cameroon.
Vincent Onovo played twenty-nine appearances and scored a goal for Ujpest in the league.
