Two goals either side of half time were enough for Rivers United to see off a spirited Kano Pillars side at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Wednesday

Suraj Ayeleso kept the visitors in the game in the opening 5 minutes, saving well from Joseph Onoja and Kazie Enyinnaya who saw his effort narrowly miss target, but the game was flipped on its head moments later.

Sunday Adetunji fired a superb opening goal in the 10th minute finding the top corner from 15 yards out, before Paul Acquah made sure of the points 4 minutes after the restart (49th minute) of the second half when he was at the end of a fantastic move to hits home a rebound after Suraj Ayeleso had done well to keep out Sunday Adetunji’s close range volley.

Rivers United will be guest to Adamawa United at their adopted home ground, the 12,000 capacity multi-use Pantami Stadium n the Pantami district of Gombe, Gombe State, Nigeria
