The Nigeria Professional Football League relegation battle has taken another turn late on in the season as we see out Matchday 27.

As the current League season progresses, a relegation battle is starting to take shape. At one point it looked like the bottom 4 had already been set in stone. But as of late, a few teams are showing they aren’t ready to leave the Nigeria Professional Football League quite yet.

At the same time, there are a few teams that were once thought to be safe that are now struggling. All of this could lead to a very entertaining relegation battle over the coming weeks.

For starters, there are the obvious 4 teams currently in the relegation zone. Those teams are Adamawa United, FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Sunshine Stars and Warri Wolves.

Then there are the teams that sit just above the relegation zone. Katsina United, Wikki Tourists and Jigawa Golden Stars are safe for now, but still close enough to be demoted where they will not be feeling comfortable.

All 7 of these teams will find themselves right in the middle of the relegation battle.

What teams will survive and stay up in the League?

The team that is in the worst spot at the moment is Adamawa United. Although they have been playing a bit better as of late, they are at the bottom of the table and most likely will not be able to dig themselves out.

The other two teams in the fight for survival are FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Wolves and Sunshine Stars. Out of those three, the Seasiders looks most likely to climb their way out.

As of late, they have been on a very good run of form with 2 wins and 3 losses in their last 5 matches. If they can continue in this vein they have a very good chance of moving up the table.

It is also worth mentioning that the team in the worst form recently is Jigawa Golden Stars. Now they sit three points clear of Wolves in 16th place, but if they continue to play poorly they could also become a factor in the relegation battle.

All of this leads to what is sure to be an exciting end to the season.
