Brighton & Hove Albion have expressed interest in signing Paul Onuachu from Racing Genk, according to a report from Allnigeriasoccer.
Paul Onuachu was the highest scoring Nigerian striker in Europe in the concluded season with thirty-five goals, five assists in forty-one games – in all competition.
According to the report, Brighton have contacted his agent through an intermediary, with talks for a possible transfer ongoing.
The Seagulls are the favourite to sign the Nigerian striker following a good relationship that exists between them. The relationship began in 2019 after Racing Genk sold Leandro Trossard to the Premier League side.
According to Genk, Paul Onuachu is worth around thirty million euros because of his form throughout the season. Whether Brighton will accept the fee is not confirmed.
However, the Seagulls are not the only Premier League side interested in signing the Nigerian striker. West Ham United are monitoring the situation and will submit a bid if the conditions are accepted.
Aside from the relegation teams, Brighton are one of the lowest-scoring teams in the Premier League. The Seagulls scored forty goals and are only above Wolverhamptoscored, who scored thirty-six goals.
Last season, Brighton finished sixteen on the Premier League table with forty-one points. West Ham qualified for the UEFA Europa League, finishing sixth with sixty-five points.
