Mexico skipper suffers injury in camp, remains a doubt for Nigeria clash

Experienced José Andrés Guardado Hernández is an injury doubt for Mexico friendly against Nigeria on July 4.

The captain suffered an injury during the El Tri’s training in California.

The Real Betis midfielder suffered a muscle tear and medical staff confirmed that he will be out for one month.

Guardado, 34, made his first appearance for Mexico in a friendly match against Hungary on 14 December 2005, four months after his first-team debut with Atlas.

The three-time CONCACAF Gold Cup winner was in devastating form for Real Betis last season.
