With Akwa United maintaining top spot, the direction of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title seems to be heavily pointing towards the Promise Keepers. Ademetan Abayomi selects his best XI from Week 31 in the NPFL.

Adeyinka Adewale – Akwa United

Helped keep the normally-potent Plateau United strikers out with a series of super saves in both halves. The keeper always seemed alert and kept the Peace Boys at bay. Instinctive.

Chigozie Obasi – Nasarawa United

Was a problem for Jigawa Golden Stars’ left flank throughout. Racing down the right flank, he was unplayable. The fullback was involved in one of the goals. Direct.

Ejike Uzoechi – Sunshine Stars

An excellent performance from the off as he controlled the Heartland forwards with comparative ease. He handled everything in Owerri. Complete.

Charles Okafor – Akwa United

A wall in defence for the Promise Keepers and showed that he could probably survive a hit from a Tomahawk missile with his presence. Always won high balls into the middle and for most of the match kept the hosts at bay. Authoritative.

Mustapha Abdullahi – Wikki Tourists

Always on the move and looking to lay off the killer ball while pushing up. It was from one of these strong runs that helped Wikki Tourists score. Motivating.

Emma James – Sunshine Stars

James moved the ball well and ensured that Kelechi Chimezie had to work extra hard to get anywhere. Commanding.

Samuel Kalu – Katsina United

The star of the show scored a brace and caused problems. Always in the right place at the right time and proved it many times in the game. Magnificent.

Adamu Hassan – Nasarawa United

Playing a little deeper, he scored one and made one. Always ready to initiate attacks. Stimulating.

Ifegwu Ojukwu – Sunshine Stars

An all-out action performance from a player who seems to have settled in perfectly with Sunshine Stars. Ready to run for everything, bagged the winner. Invigorating.

Fuad Ekelojuoti – Sunshine Stars

A top performance from the winger and perhaps he should have scored. Exciting.

Silas Nwankwo – Nasarawa United

The young striker ruled the game with the smile on his face replicating his football and forever pushing wrecking havoc. He scored twice. Inspirational.
