Kayserispor-linked Cyriel Dessers scored two first goals as his KRC Genk side defeated Maastricht 5-2 in a preseason friendly on Monday, Futbalgalore.com.ng reports.
Dessers’ got his first goal from the penalty spot on the half before completing his brace in the 47th minute.
The match was Genk’s final friendly before facing Standard Liège on day 1 of the 2021/22 Belgian Pro League season.
Dessers had to play second fiddle to compatriot Paul Onuachu at hometown club Genk last season.
He has demanded for more game time to prove his class.
It is believed that he could get his chance with the expected departure of Onuachu to a major league this summer.
He didn’t enjoy good times in his first season at Genk as he scored 4 goals from 28 matches.
Meanwhile, out-of-favour Stephen Odey wasn’t listed for action on Monday. He enjoyed a decent loan spell at Amiens last term.
