Luckily for the Super Eagles there is plenty of younger talent currently coming through the youth ranks, and below are the talents, under the age of 21, who we believe will take the nation by storm in the next few years if they continue their development.

So coach Gernot Rohr should be on the lookout for them.

1. Adamu Jr Chukwubuike – Red Bull Salzburg

Blessed with terrific pace and agility Adamu was ranked among the top talents in Switzerland football after performing for St Gallen first team last season.

Eligible to play for Nigeria, Adamu is a regular for Austria U21. If he can continue his developmen and learning, then the Kano born lad is more than capable of becoming one of the most deadly strikers in Europe.

2. Tai Sodje – Manchester City

Sodje is a strong striker, with good ball control and a deadly right foot, who finished as second top scorer in the English Premier League North (Under 18) last season with 19 goals.

The next goal for Sodje will be to break into Manchester City’s first team, and judging by recent performances that moment can’t be too far away.

3. Toluwase Arokodare – Amiens

At 1.97cm, Arokodare is a commanding presence on the pitch, and his height will be a a huge asset for Amiens over the next few years, although the striker also has great ability with the ball at his feet.

He is certainly a player worth keeping an eye on. There isn’t currently a tall battering ram of a striker in the Nigeria national team, and if Arokodare can continue his development then he could fill that void in the future.

4. Emeka Chinonso – KAA Gent

A typical centre forward, Chinonso has a bright future.

The striker is strong, agile and an excellent finisher, especially with his head. If he continues to find the net for the U21’s this season then a call up to Gent main team will not be far away, and that will give the striker the chance to prove his undoubted quality.

5. Adams Akor – Sogndal

A striker with blistering pace Akor has impressed at Sogndal.

The youngster is not only quick, but can link up play well and if he can add more goals to his game then a bright future awaits.
