Central defender Uwem Alexander is reportedly open to idea of playing for Nigeria ahead of Croatia
The Osijek youngster has been on the radar of Nigeria right from his youthful days at the White-blues.
Reliable source close to the highly rated player has claimed that he is ready to declare his international future to Nigeria after being contacted.
“Uwem has been contacted about the possibility of playing for Nigeria,” the source informed Futbalgalore.com.ng.
“The boy is flattered about the interest from his country of ascentry. He is looking at the possibility.”
“You know that he is eligible to play for Croatia and Nigeria. Time will tell on which decision he makes. But the lad is excited to be courted by the West African nation.”
The 19-year-old currently defends the colours of NK Osijek in Croatia and has played one game and provided one assist this season.
Born in Zagreb, Uwem lists NK Dugo Selo and NK Sesvete as his former clubs.
Uwem Alexander is tall and covers the ground extremely well. This gives him an advantage when defending isolated 1v1 against attacking players.
In terms of his defending style, Uwem is very proactive and he has a tendency to take chances in order to win the ball in front of the attacking player.
