Ethiopia have beaten Nigeria’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) opponent, Sudan, in a friendly encounter that took place in Cameroon.
The 2021 AFCON is set to take place between 9 January 2022 and 6 February 2022 across five cities in Cameroon.
Sudan were handed a very tough draw after being placed in Group D alongside Guinea-Bissau as well as Nigeria, and Egypt, who have 10 AFCONs between them.
The Falcons of Jediane are already gathered Cameroon for their pre-tournament training camp. Their first friendly match came against Ethiopia, who are partaking in their first AFCON since 2013.
Ethiopia dominated the entirety of the encounter and managed to secure a comfortable 3-0 win. Saint George SC forward Amanuel Gebremichael scored a brace with El-Gouna’s Shimelis Bekele adding the third.
Sudan have two other friendlies scheduled against Zimbabwe and Sierra Leone, before the tournament’s kick-off.
