Nigerian football fans have stormed Watford’s Facebook page to vent their frustration and anger against the club for their reported refusal to allow Emmanuel Dennis play for the Super Eagles at AFCON 2021

Premier League club, Watford had earlier congratulated the striker on his invitation to the Super Eagles.

Events took a dramatic turn when Hornets’ coach, Claudio Ranieri suggested that the player would not play at the AFCON because the invitation from the Nigerian Football Federation arrived late.

Speaking to NFF TV, Super Eagles’ interim coach, Austin Eguavoen said the Federation did what they could despite alleged threats from Watford to the player but their efforts yielded no fruits, hence the invitation of another player to take Dennis’ place in the team

This has infuriated Nigerian fans who have practically taken over the comments section of the club’s Facebook page to express their displeasure. Other African fans joined Nigerians in solidarity and have not given Watford fans breathing space on their Facebook page.

It would be recalled that Watford allowed Super Eagles vice captain William Troost-Ekong join the AFCON train.

The next AFCON will hold from January 9 to February 6 in Cameroon.
