Ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) game between Nigeria and Egypt, Carlos Quieroz, who is the Pharaohs Coach has made a public statement about his team.
According to him, Egypt has the best player in the world, in the person of Mohamed Salah. He also stated the fact that Egypt are no respecter of any team in the AFCON because their mentality as a team is to win the competition.
Ahmed Musa, the Super Eagles Captain has responded to these words by establishing the unique aspect of the Super Eagles team. He responded by saying Nigeria doesn’t have to think about Salah being a threat. He stated further that Nigeria has some prolific players in their possession and hence, Egypt should be the ones to be panicking ahead of the fixture on Tuesday.
Despite losing their key players due to certain issues, Musa still held firm to the belief of the Super Eagles being capable of hurting the Pharaohs of Egypt when they clash on Tuesday. A Captain’s job is to increase the morale of his teammates and Musa is doing that so well, going into the game in a high spirit and strong mentality can aid Nigeria’s win on Tuesday.
But the big question still lies here, is Salah truly not a big threat to the Super Eagles? He has scored 16 league goals this season, more than Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku in the league. A key player for Liverpool and he’s rated as the best player in the world at the moment. How will the Super Eagles contain him on Tuesday? Let’s wait and see.
