Ola Aina won the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Bronze and he has now told Futbalgalore.com.ng the Super Eagles can make a bold statement at the tournament in Cameroon.
According to the Torino full back, the Cup of Nations is a massive tourney that shouldn’t be seen as small.
“It’s very good, I love the atmosphere. We are very close together. We are like a family which is very important,” he informed Futbalgalore.com.ng in Garoua on Sunday night.
“I want to play well for the team and put up good performances that will help the squad.”
The former Fulham and Chelsea defender added: “I said to my roommate (Alex Iwobi) that when you come here, you realise what privilege is to play at this tournament. The magnitude of this competition is massive. I will never feel AFCON is a small tournament, the world shouldn’t see it like that.”
Nigeria open their 2021 AFCON campaign on January 11 against seven-time champions Egypt.
They are also drawn against Guinea Bissau and Sudan in the first round of the competition.
