Sudan national team general manager, Mohsen Sayed, said that Egypt are favourites to beat Nigeria in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Sudan were handed a very tough draw after being placed in Group D alongside Guinea-Bissau as well as Nigeria, and Egypt, who have 10 AFCONs between them.

The Falcons of Jediane will start their journey on Tuesday 11 January, against Guinea-Bissau, before facing Nigeria and finally the Pharaohs in the final group stage match.

On the other hand, Egypt will face Nigeria in their opener and Sayed believes their neighbours are favourites to beat the Super Eagles and earn the three points.

“Egypt has the best player in the world,” he told Mega FM alluding to Mohamed Salah.

“On paper, the Egyptian national team is better than Nigeria and is the closest to winning, but football is full of surprises.

“I definitely hope that Egypt win.”

Sayed then spoke about their game against Guinea-Bissau, saying they’re familiar with their opponent’s style of play.

“We know the Guinea-Bissau national team very well. We met twice in the [World Cup] qualifiers a month ago. We are building a strong generation for the future and all the players will participate in their first major international tournament,” he explained.

“The draw served us well, as our match against Egypt will be the last one in the group stage,” he concluded.
