Ahead of this Friday’s final of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup 2021/2022, it has now been confirmed that both finalists, Orlando Pirates of the Republic of South Africa and RSB Berkane of Morocco will arrive Uyo, venue of the epochal match tomorrow, Wednesday, May 18, 2022.
The Senior Special Assistant to Akwa Ibom state Governor on Sports and General Coordinator of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the final, Elder Paul Bassey, gave the confirmation in a chat, Tuesday, in Uyo.
“The LOC has established contact with the camps of both teams and I can confirm that the teams will be arriving Uyo tomorrow”, Mr. Bassey said.
In a related development, kick-off for the eagerly-anticipated final has been fixed for eight o’clock in the evening.
“As per the directive from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), I can confirm to you that kick-off for the match is at 8:00pm and we at the LOC are perfectly poised to make it a memorable occasion that the entirety of Africa will be proud of”, Mr. Bassey added.
Pirates will be seeking a second success in African football having won the Champions League in 1995 while Berkane, who were Confederation Cup champions in 2019/2020, will be making a third appearance in the final when proceedings get underway in Uyo, Friday.
