Although we’re all still on a bit of a AFCON qualification hangover, it’s time to forget the events of the last couple of weeks. That’s going to be hard for some, fans and players alike. It’s time for the players to get back to their domestic clubs. Pre-season training is already in full swing.

It’s not long before the League season gets underway. In a few weeks we’ll be getting our weekly dose of League action once again.

There are Nigerians that remain an integral part of their teams. There are stars that’ll shine on the pitch no matter who they’re playing for. Their careers may have had peaks and troughs. That’s inevitable when it comes to the life of a pro athlete. But they’re tipped to shine this seasom.

These are players looking to do something big in the upcoming League campaign.

  1. Victor Osimhen

Osimhen has made quite an impact on the footballing scene during his relatively short time in the Serie A. He’s got a good goal-scoring ratio for Nigeria too.

Napoli recognized there was something about him and he hasn’t let them down. Despite scoring 14 goals in the Italian top flight last term, he would be looking to double up his efforts for Napoli.

He’s tipped to be one of the League’s leading strikers. If he can stay injury-free and gets more playing time, there’s a good chance he could end the season as the leading scorer.

  1. Joe Aribo

It’s little wonder why Rangers forwards score so many goals. They get such good service from Joe Aribo in midfield.

Aribo sets them up, but he’s also capable of finding the back of the net himself. He’s scored some ridiculous goals during his time in the Scottish Premiership. He will no doubt be looking to make 2022/23 another stellar season. But Rangers need to ensure they hold on to their prized asset as Premier League clubs are on the prawl.

  1. Taiwo Awoniyi

Awoniyi has all the attributes of a top-class striker. He’s been making it work for himself too and has been showing the world his prowess in front of the goal.

In recent season, he’s just been a goal machine for Union Berlin. He hasn’t let them down. The former Mainz star will no doubt be looking to improve upon his tally this coming season.

  1. Moses Simon

A few weeks is a long time in the footballing world. Who knows if the Nantes playmaker will even be around in the Ligue 1 next season?

The winger has been linked with Newcastle United for quite a few weeks now.

Should he stay in France, he will no doubt be the main man. He will be the guy the team’s built around. Simon is sure to make the most of that opportunity, given his status at Nantes.
