Awoniyi might reject Forest offer amid interest from multiple other clubs in his signature – Report

Nottingham Forest look set to miss out on Union Berlin striker Taiwo Awoniyi, Football Insider understands.

The Premier League newcomers have made the former Liverpool forward a top target after learning of a £17.2million release clause in his contract.

But a recruitment source has told Football Insider that Awoniyi is planning to reject the interest from Forest amid interest from multiple other clubs in his signature.

Despite never making a competitive appearance, the striker spent six years at Liverpool but struggled to obtain a work permit meaning that action was limited to the club’s training ground in between seven separate loans away from the club across Europe.

Manager Jurgen Klopp is said to remain a ‘huge admirer’ of Awoniyi and hold a belief that the player can ‘make an impact’ in England.
