Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi has said he is ‘very excited’ to join new Premier League club Nottingham Forest from Union Berlin on a five-year club-record deal to become the side’s first international signing of the summer.

The 24-year-old joined Forest from the Bundesliga club on a five-year deal and becomes the newly-promoted Premier League side’s first international signing of the summer.

“I’m very excited to be here at Nottingham Forest,” smiling Awoniyi told fans at The City Ground.

“It has always been my dream to play in the Premier League and having spoken to Steve Cooper about our ambitions and looking at Forest, with its great history, it’s a club that I want to be part of.”

Awoniyi started his professional career at Liverpool in 2015 before having loan spells at FSV Frankfurt, NEC, Mouscron, Gent and Mainz 05.

He joined German club Union Berlin on loan during the 2020/21 season and later sealed the permanent contract last July.

Meanwhile, Awoniyi netted 20 goals in 43 games across all competitions last season.
