Jose Peseiro, the head coach of the Super Eagles, and one of his assistants were spotted in Ikenne, Ogun State last weekend at the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match between Remo Stars and Enyimba.

The game’s venue, Remo Stars Stadium, released a photo of Peseiro on its Instagram page.

Chairman of Remo Stars, Hon Kunle Soname welcomed the Portuguese and his assistant to Ikenne.

The coach was gifted a jersey of the Sky Blue Stars.

“We had the pleasure of hosting Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro in Ikenne. The Portuguese was gifted our jersey by Club President Kunle Soname,” the club wrote via Instagram.

Futbalgalore.com.ng reports that Peseiro has now made three trips to league venues since taking over as the Super Eagles’ head coach.

He has now travelled to Ilorin, Uyo and Ikenne.

Peseiro and the Nigeria Football Federation verbally agreed on December 29, 2021, that Peseiro would take over as Gernot Rohr’s assistant coach for the Super Eagles.

He was scheduled to go to the Cameroon 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, but only as a “observer” while Augustine Eguavoen, the interim manager, oversaw the team.

However, the deal ultimately failed because Eguavoen was kept after the competition. Peseiro finally became the new head coach on May 15, 2022.

In the 2023 AFCON qualifiers, he led the Eagles to victories over Sierra Leone and So Tomé and Principe after losing his first two games, a pair of friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador.

The Eagles also achieved their biggest victory under his leadership to date, a 10-0 thrashing of So Tomé and Principe in their 2023 AFCON second Group A qualifier in Morocco
