Barcelona are reportedly interested in Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.
The 18-year-old made 12 Premier League appearances last season and recently helped England win the U19 European Championships.
Although Steven Gerrard is keen to retain the services of the prospect, with only one year remaining on his contract, the Aston Villa academy product has been linked with a move away from Villa Park
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, via the Birmingham Mail, Barcelona hold a ‘serious interest’ in signing Chukwuemeka, with the Catalan Giants recognising that the player has ‘huge potential’.
Barcelona are not expected to make a move this summer, though, with Chukwuemeka available for FIFA training compensation in January.
Xavi’s side could also face competition from a number of Premier League clubs and Borussia Dortmund for Chukwuemeka’s signature.
At international level, Carney Chukwuemeka is eligible to play for Nigeria or England.
