Former Orlando Pirates attacker Benedict Tso Vilakazi has urged the Soweto giants to consider signing Super Eagles keeper Daniel Akpeyi ahead of the new season.
And with less than a month to go until the new season starts, there are still plenty of free agents looking for clubs in an oversaturated market with over 30 clubless players, including former Kaizer Chiefs gloves man Akpeyi.
DStv Premiership teams are trimming their squads and balancing the books, and Benedict “Tso” Vilakazi believes Pirates should sign the ex Chippa United man to strengthen the squad.
“[Richard] Ofori needs a challenge, and [Daniel] Akpeyi wouldn’t be a bad option,” he said.
Akpeyi, who wants to emulate the legendary Gianluigi Buffon, wants to join a club where he will likely play as he is eager to be part of Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which is set to resume in September
